Officers Post Activites Programs & Services Scholarships & Awards
Legionnaire of the Year Award

Each May the Post solicits nominations for the Legionnaire of the Year Award. There are many of our members who contribute their time and talents to our Post.  There are many active members throughout the year.  Among all those volunteers, who stands out to you as contributing the most to our Post?  Now that you’ve come up with a name and it’s fresh in your mind, write it down and submit their name as a nominee for the Legionnaire-of-the-Year award.

Criteria for the award will be work performed during the Legion fiscal year (July - June); work done on behalf of Post 333 as a “blue-cap” member (County, District, State & National Office official duties will not be considered for this “Post” award); officers of the Post can be considered for work done above and beyond their elected position.

Nominations can be submitted to anyone on the Executive Committee no later than the June Executive Committee meeting (fist Monday in June).  Legionnaires can submit their own name or the name of a fellow comrade.  The nomination should include the name of the nominating person and a written description of why the nominee should be considered.

The selection process is as follows:
During the April and May General Meetings, additional nominations will be taken from the floor.
At the June Executive Committee meeting the Committee will review the nominations.
Candidates present at the meeting will be excused.
One nominee will be selected by a 2/3’s vote of the Executive Committee members present.
The comrade’s name will be submitted to the General Membership for approval at the June regular meeting.
The award will be presented at the July regular meeting.  The winner receives a Legionnaire-of-the-Year
certificate and will have his or her name added to the Legionnaire-of-the-Year wall plaque.  The winner will also
be presented with a Post 333 embroidered jacket which will read, “Legionnaire of the Year 20XX”.

The Liz Reininger Legionnaire-of-the-Year Memorial funds the purchasing of the nameplate for the plaque.  The
American Legion Marshall A. Rice Legionnaire-of-the-Year memorial is used to purchase the jacket.  Click here
